Authors Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair are two of my absolute favorites. I turn to them when I want to read something that’s fun, lighthearted, heartfelt, sassy, and sweet. They never disappoint! They collaborate from time to time, so I thought it would be nice to feature them together. In a nutshell, they write clean and sweet romantic comedies with a lot of emotion, wonderful characters, and the best banter. Oh, the banter!
Let’s take a look at authors Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair and talk about some of their books. We’ll focus first on the series they’ve worked on together, and then we’ll delve into a few they wrote individually. I recommend all of them.
A little about author Jenny Proctor
Jenny Proctor has worked in and around writing and publishing; now she writes full time. She is a people person and enjoys storytelling. It’s not unusual to find her teaching, workshopping, writing, connecting, or giving a talk. A native of North Carolina, Jenny also enjoys hiking and spending time with friends and family in the great outdoors. She’s equally at home relaxing with a book or movie.
Jenny is a two-time Whitney Award winner, an award given to exceptional LDS authors each year. She has enjoyed being an active part of the Storymakers Conference. It was created to provide support, training, and encouragement to writers at all stages of their writing journeys and on various publishing paths.

A little about author Emma St. Clair
USA Today bestselling author Emma St. Clair creates spunky heroines and fills her stories with a lot of heart and banter. Very swoony! There is plenty of heat but no explicit content. She has an MFA in fiction. On a more personal note, Emma lives with her family (five kids!) in Texas.
Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair book collaboration
Oakley Island Romcoms
There are four books in this series. The first three each feature a different sister. They’ve inherited an old house on Oakley Island from their grandmother, and it needs renovating. A fun community surrounds them, and each sister takes a different path to love. The fourth book is listed separately on Amazon, and it features the next generation.
Eloise’s story has grumpy-sunshine vibes, and it features an attack pelican. No joke! Merritt’s story is a second-chance love story, and she’s a classic overachiever facing a monumental crisis. Sadie is a determined intellectual introvert, who (reluctantly!!) falls for a billionaire. Izzy’s book is a sweet off-limits love story. All the books are quick reads with no explicit content. Strongly recommend!
Appies Hockey Romance
This series has six books. Two of the books were originally part of the (delightful!) Sweater Weather fall multi-author series set in the quaint small town of Harvest Hollow. Jenny and Emma’s books highlighted the Appies hockey team in Harvest Hollow. The Appies became so popular that they pulled those two books and created a new series around them. The Appies series brings you back to Harvest Hollow and gives those beloved hockey stars their stories. If you like hockey romance but prefer sweet and clean books, these are for you. Sensational series!
Only Magic in the Building
Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair are two authors in this multi-author series of eight books set in Serendipity Springs. The interconnected stories feature a magical building called The Serendipity. There’s a whimsical element to all of the books. Emma’s book showcases a (somewhat uptight!) businessman and a fun-loving baker. Jenny’s book is a friends-to-lovers story with a magical flower. The whole series is just a little bit different, and I enjoyed every book! So much fun!
Other book series by Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair
How to Kiss a Hawthorne Brother
There are four books, one for each brother, in this series by Jenny Proctor. I loved the whole family!! It was fun getting to know them all. A gorgeous family farm and tightly-knit community provide the backdrop. Brody is a high school chemistry teacher and outdoorsman with a long-time crush on his best friend. Perry is the grumpy CEO licking his wounds after a rough divorce. Lennox is a talented chef who is NOT interested in his rival. And Flint is a movie star with a lot to learn. Strongly recommend!
Love Stories in Sheet Cake
These are all so fun! Sheet Cake is a small town in Texas. Emma St. Clair centers the series around a family of former professional football players. They buy the town and find all sorts of challenges and humor there, as well as, of course, love. The stories feature a marriage of convenience, a grumpy boss, and plenty of pining. Throw in the enemies-to-lovers and best-friend’s-brother tropes, and you’re in for an adventure. I really enjoyed the whole series.
Some Kind of Love
Follow twins Dani and Isaac and their friend group as they figure out life, work, and love in this charming four-book series by Jenny Proctor. This all takes place primarily in Charleston, South Carolina and parts of North Carolina (where there’s some overlap with her Hawthorne family series). There’s lots of fun, angst, growth, and chemistry. The stories are all connected but can be read in any order.
Love Clichés
This is the first Emma St. Clair series I read, and then I was HOOKED! Emma features a different trope in each book, sometimes more than one. All the clichés. All the mishaps and shenanigans. Plenty of drama. Very heartwarming. The tropes include best friend’s twin, boss, age gap, forced proximity, fake fiancé, friends-to-lovers, and enemies-to-lovers. They’re all lighthearted and engaging.

Who are your favorite authors? Do you enjoy reading lighthearted books from time to time?
I love historical fiction, but sometimes it can be heavy. Difficult. I like to break up my more serious reading with fun sweet romantic comedies. It gives me a good sense of balance. Anything by Jenny or Emma is a hit with me. 🙂
Let me know if you try any of these books by Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair!
I have not included all of their books here, just a smattering of my favorites.
